What is auto detailing?

Many people have heard of auto detailing, but don’t completely understand what it is or what it entails. These days, detailing has come to encompass a host of different automotive related tasks. But at its fundamental level, detailing is a profession which includes a thoughtful and methodical approach to deep cleaning and protecting automobiles. A detailer will use specialized tools, brushes, cleaners, protectants, and equipment to clean the cracks, the crevices, the nooks, the crannies, and all of those hard-to-reach areas in your car.

In many ways, the word “detailing” says it all. Detailing involves cleaning those areas that the the average individual doesn’t think about: Air vents, seat railings, visor mirrors, seatbelt casings, glove boxes, behind the rearview mirror, beneath the headrests .. (you get the picture).

Detailing takes time, it is a thorough and thoughtful process that involves raising your car to its fullest potential. In my opinion, detailing is an art. Not in a Mona Lisa way, but in a conscious approach to appreciating and mastering one’s craft way. I love detailing. There are very few activities you can do these days that allow you to completely focus on one semi-mindless task, yet provide deep and tangible results. Detailing allows you to transform something. Make it better. Bring back its beauty. It’s an art, a craft, a profession, and a hobby.
